Patients

Originally, Kfar Izun candidates were profiled as young adults, who recently completed full army service in the I.D.F. (many

from elite units), who had traveled abroad and were exposed to hallucinogenic drugs. The mind-altering drugs brought about incidents of extreme posttraumatic shock syndrome that sent

the individuals into deep mental seclusion.

Nowadays it is an unfortunate fact that Israeli youths no longer need to travel abroad to find hallucinogenic drugs as they are

also exposed to them in Israel.

Support and treatment from State mental health facilities has often proved unsuccessful. State facilities are often located in closed intuitions and offer traditional inpatient treatment

methods only. In most incidents, patients remain in need of

help and are often publicly “labeled” as mentally unfit.

The Kfar Izun program offers individuals therapeutic alternatives and a unique new opportunity to get back on track.
